19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on court had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet defended four initial chances in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
