Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident left him without words and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
